Meaning of Adaptation

In Scrum, “Adaptation” means changing the way you work or your plans based on what you have learned. If you discover that something can be improved or if something changes, you adapt to deal with this change. This helps the entire Scrum Team to be agile and to continuously improve in what they do.

Example

Adaptation occurs, among other times, during the Sprint Review, where the team receives feedback on the work delivered and then decides what can be done differently in the next Sprint to better meet the needs of customers. Adaptation also takes place during the Sprint Retrospective, where the Scrum Team reflects on their work processes and collaboration to identify improvements for the next Sprint.

The cycle of inspection followed by adaptation is crucial in Scrum and enables teams to remain agile and quickly respond to changes.
